Valerian Materials was founded to commercialize the results of federally funded research conducted at the University of Minnesota, producing bio-based alternatives to fossil-based polyurethanes.

Valerian Materials was honored to be chosen to present its novel monomer to Sethuraman Panchanathan, Director of NSF.

This project will optimize the fermentation and downstream processing of betamethylvalerolactone, eventually incorporating it into sustainable and bio-derived elastomers, foams, and adhesives.
